Create pro-quality videos with Hunyuan Video, Tencent's free AI-powered tool that turns text into smooth, cinematic visuals. Explore its features and user feedback.
Overview
Hunyuan Video, made by Tencent, is an AI tool that lets you create videos by simply typing out descriptions. This free platform uses a massive 13-billion-parameter model—currently the biggest open-source video generator. It delivers sharp visuals, smooth motion, and lively scene transitions.
Tencent is a big name in gaming, social apps, and AI. They’re behind this tool, which is part of their Hunyuan AI push.
Hunyuan Video supports up to 720p resolution, making it simple to craft polished videos that feel professional.
And they didn’t stop there. They also released Hunyuan3D 2.0, which can whip up 3D models from text or images in seconds.
What Does It Cost? Nothing. It’s totally free—no hidden charges or features behind a paywall IF you have the hardware to run it. If not then you can try it at fal.ai paying per usage. Your request will cost $0.4 per video. For $1 you can run this model approximately 3 times.
There exists a ComfyUI wrapper and it's pretty amazing.
Another one ComfyUI-HunyuanLoom allows you to work in video-to-video mode using Flowedit workflow and Hunyuan LoRAs like this one.
Hunyuan Video turns your ideas into smooth, high-quality videos that feel cinematic, with lively motion and seamless transitions. It creates natural action sequences, captures human expressions effortlessly, and sticks to basic physics to keep everything grounded. Plus, it’s open source, so you can explore or contribute to its development on GitHub.
Can You Use Hunyuan Video for Commercial Projects?
The short answer: Yes, but there are rules to follow. Here’s what Tencent’s Hunyuan Community License allows and limits when using the tool for business purposes.
What’s Allowed?
-
You Own the Outputs
The videos you make belong to you. Tencent doesn’t claim any rights to them. You can use them for commercial purposes, as long as you follow the other rules. -
Business Use Is OK in Some Regions
You can monetize outputs in most regions, but not in the European Union, the UK, or South Korea. -
Small-to-Mid Scale Use Is Fine
If your platform has under 100 million monthly users, you’re good to go. For anything larger, you’ll need a separate license from Tencent. -
Attribution (Optional)
If needed, you might add “Powered by Tencent Hunyuan” to your products.
What’s Not Allowed?
-
Violating the Acceptable Use Policy
Your videos can’t be used for anything harmful, illegal, or unethical. For example, don’t make videos that hurt people or promote illegal activities. -
Breaking Regional Rules
Trying to use Hunyuan outputs commercially in banned regions? That’s a no-go. -
Large-Scale Use Without Permission
Platforms with over 100 million active users per month can’t use Hunyuan Video commercially unless they get Tencent’s approval.

- Text-2-Video
The AI community has been buzzing. Some highlights:
- Img2Vid Demand: Many are frustrated that there’s no image-to-video feature yet, but Tencent plans to add this soon—possibly this month. Exciting stuff!
- Performance Love: People love how well it works, even on mid-range PCs. Just note, higher resolutions need hefty GPUs (think 24GB VRAM).
- Smooth Outputs: Videos feel polished, and users find most results usable.
- Custom Training: Advanced users like how you can train custom setups for unique styles, though beginners say this part feels tricky.
- License Confusion: Tencent’s "community license" has left some scratching their heads. It’s open-source but seems to have limits on commercial use.
The biggest complaint? No image-to-video (img2vid) yet. Many users say they’re holding off until this feature drops, which could make Hunyuan more practical for workflows like extending animations or creating smoother transitions.
Running this locally isn’t for everyone. Even with optimizations, it’s tough on GPUs under 12GB VRAM. While some have managed to make it work, others find the setup too much of a hassle or too slow to bother. [ Source ]
Creating short clips often takes longer than expected. People want quicker results, especially for testing ideas or generating small projects.
A highly intense and cinematic scene of a blonde female soldier in camouflage bandana with piercing eyes in the foreground, partially submerged in muddy water, aiming a modern assault rifle directly at the viewer and firing. Her face and head are soaked, with mud and grime on her shoulders emphasizing her rugged, battle-worn appearance. Behind her, a group of heavily armed soldiers, all in tactical gear and helmets, are advancing through the water, partially blurred to suggest depth. The background features a dense, misty jungle with faint outlines of trees, adding a humid, gritty atmosphere. The lighting is diffused, with overcast conditions casting a moody, natural glow on the scene. The color palette is dominated by cold earthy tones such as greens, browns, and greys, enhanced by the reflective surfaces of water and wet gear. The overall mood is tense and cinematic, capturing a sense of danger and urgency.

The camera moves in a slow dolly shot, revealing a woman seated motionless at a gilded desk. Her posture is upright but relaxed, and the desk is cluttered with peculiar trinkets: a tiny wind-up robot, a stack of mismatched teacups, and a miniature cactus wearing a bow tie. The frame captures her from behind, the gold of the desk gleaming in vibrant, playful light. A massive, ornate mirror dominates the wall before her, its gilded frame now adorned with dangling fairy lights. In the mirror’s reflection, her face comes into view—she’s smiling warmly, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous, playful glint, as if she’s just thought of something delightfully absurd.

A sausage dog wearing stylish wind goggles drives a gleaming chrome motorcycle, its long ears flapping wildly in the breeze, and its mouth open in an excited, playful expression. The dog looks thrilled as it grips the handlebars tightly. In the front basket of the motorcycle, a ginger-and-white cat sits energetically, its fur tousled by the wind, with wide, excited eyes and an open-mouthed expression of joy. The background features a vast countryside road stretching into the distance, lined with golden fields and distant mountains under warm golden sunlight. The entire scene exudes quirky, dynamic energy with a fun and cinematic vibe.
