FLUX.2 [klein] 9B is a fast image AI model by Black Forest Labs released in January 2026. It is a compact, flexible, and high-quality image generation and editing model from Black Forest Labs. It’s part of the broader FLUX.2 family, built on a rectified flow transformer architecture, and suited for both creative generation and sophisticated editing workflows.

This model lets you create images from text or change existing ones using prompts. You can make new stuff or tweak what's already there, all in one tool.

It runs quick, usually under a second if your gear's strong enough. It's also lighter than the bigger FLUX.2 versions so it's easier to use locally.

FLUX.2 [klein] 9B Base is the full base model, not stripped down, which makes it good for more training or tweaks if you want to adjust it later.

1. The FLUX.2 [klein] 9B Base model fits in ~29GB VRAM and is accessible on NVIDIA RTX 4090 and above.
2. FLUX.2 [klein] 9B is the smaller, distilled model built for speed which works well in real-time without losing much quality. For that one you'd need roughly 19.6 GB VRAM.
