Clarity Upscaler

Overview

Clarity Upscaler is a tool that sharpens and blows up images using AI. It’s free and open-source so you can run it locally or through the web app. It’s a solid pick if you’ve tried something like Magnific AI but want more control or don’t want to pay as much.

A guy named philz1337x built this. Used to be a mechanical engineer now he makes AI tools. He also made ControlNet Deliberate and something called Multidiffusion Upscaler. 

What Can It Do?

Multi-Stage Upscaling. It grows the image size in steps which helps keep stuff clear.
Tile-Based Diffusion. It chops the picture into parts so it doesn’t crash with big files.
LoRA Integration. This means you can tweak the style while it works.
Custom Controls. You get sliders for stuff like how much you want it to look like the original or how creative it should get.

When Would You Use It?

Got a small pic that needs to look better on screen or in print? This does the job.
Want your illustrations to look cleaner and crisper? Same tool.
Making textures or backgrounds for design work? This helps there too.
Got a photo that feels a bit fuzzy? This can fix that fast.

So is it perfect? No tool is. But this one gives you a lot for nothing and might just be enough for most folks. Will it beat high-end paid stuff? Maybe not always. But try it and see.

If you’re just using Clarity Upscaler for personal projects or tweaking it privately, you're in the clear. But if you run it on a server for others to use (like in a SaaS product or web app), you’ve got to publish the modified code under the same AGPL license.
