Version 8 came out on April 30 2026 on Midjourney’s site. It keeps moving in the same direction – more realistic images, better prompt handling, and more control for users.
Midjourney V8 improves how it reads complex prompts. You can describe scenes with many details, lighting styles, or art looks, and it tends to follow those instructions more closely. This makes it useful for storytelling, concept art, ads, and early design work. And yeah it feels more reliable when you try detailed ideas.
Consistency also got better. Older versions sometimes showed odd anatomy or scenes that didn’t make sense, mainly in complex images. V8 cuts down on that. It gives more stable human figures, cleaner environments, and better object placement. That matters if you need steady results across multiple tries.
V8 supports different aspect ratios along with options like --chaos, --weird, --exp and --raw. It also works with older V7 personalization profiles, moodboards and style references.
A new --hd mode allows native 2K images, and --q 4 adds extra consistency. Some modes like HD, Q4, style references and moodboards take about 4x longer and cost more for now. Relax mode is not available yet, but work is ongoing to bring it back with cheaper options.
The tool still runs mainly through Discord. That setup feels a bit unusual compared to normal web tools. But it helps build a shared space where people post prompts, tweak ideas, and learn from each other. It’s more of a group workflow, not just a solo tool.
