ChatCut is an AI tool for editing talking-style video. You upload footage, say what you want, and it builds a draft or cleans things up for you. It shifts editing from timeline work to a simple back-and-forth… more like chatting than scrubbing clips.
It mainly targets creators working with interviews podcasts webinars explainers and similar content. The focus stays on shaping the story, not fine visual effects work.
The tool is still in beta as of March 2026 with limited access.
Its main angle is mixing two workflows into one. It edits existing footage and also lets you create new clips using AI. With Seedance 2.0 built in, users can generate video from text images audio or references, all in the same place.
ChatCut Inc runs the product. The company looks early-stage with a small team and a setup across Austin San Francisco and Shanghai.
The founders Kaiwen Li and Alima Strickland come from film and branded content work. Their background shows in the product… it leans into story building rough cuts and interview flow more than template-style editing.

The new motion graphics template library lets users browse ready-made graphics right inside the editor and place them on the timeline. Users can pick lower thirds, intro cards, data animations and text effects. This helps them skip text prompts when they already know the style they want.
