Elevate3D
Elevate3D uses AI to clean up rough 3D models improving both textures and shapes view by view. Open-source prototype created for game AR and VR creators.
Overview
Elevate3D is an AI-powered tool that improves low-quality 3D models.
A group of researchers from POSTECH in South Korea built Elevate3D along with a company called Pebblous. POSTECH is known for its AI and graphics research. Pebblous seems focused on 3D and AI tools as well.
It’s made for models with poor textures or broken shapes and turns them into higher-quality assets ready for use in games virtual reality or visual effects. It works view by view upgrading the texture first then adjusting the shape to fit that texture.
This approach keeps the model consistent and more realistic. It's especially helpful when dealing with models created from basic scans or AI prompts that don’t always get the details right.
What makes it different?
Unlike most tools that improve either texture or shape Elevate3D works on both at the same time and keeps them in sync. It looks at each view one at a time improves the texture then fixes the model’s surface to match. Then it moves to the next view and repeats the process.
It uses a method called HFS-SDEdit to bring in just the right level of sharp detail while still keeping the texture realistic. The tool also relies on normal maps generated by AI to rebuild the model’s structure more accurately.
In tests it beat out other tools like MagicBoost and DiSR-NeRF producing sharper more realistic models with better texture-shape alignment. It’s also faster. Where DiSR-NeRF takes up to 6 hours per model Elevate3D can finish in about 25 minutes.
What features are included?
Texture cleanup. Uses HFS-SDEdit to sharpen and clean textures.
Shape fixing. Rebuilds geometry to match texture updates.
Step-by-step view processing. Works on each view individually.
Texture-guided shape edits. Textures guide the structure changes.
No UV mapping needed. Uses projection methods instead.
AI surface predictions. Estimates shape with depth prediction models.
When would you use it?
This tool is useful for different situations like:
Fixing photogrammetry scans. Great for cleaning up 3D scans made from photos.
Improving AI-generated models. Helps when 3D models from text or image prompts look off.
Upgrading game or VR assets. Makes free or basic models more ready-to-use.
Correcting geometry in datasets. Fixes shape issues in synthetic model sets.
Elevate3D is a research release. It’s based on the open-source FLUX model and hasn't launched as a full product yet.
